You’re going to meet a lot of strange insecure people in this world. Some people are so threatened by you, that your very presence makes them uncomfortable. Some people are so jealous of you, that they won’t let you shine in their presence. They secretly want what you have. Some people will make every attempt to belittle your accomplishments and not acknowledge your victories. Even to the extent of character defamation. Here’s what I do in that situation.
God tells us to live without fear. Yet everyone has fear and anxiety. Why? The simple answer is, we are broken humans. So, how can we fix this?
This isn’t one of those bible verses that are hard to understand or easily taken out of context.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
It’s the old classic, “don’t worry” verse. But, there’s more to it. As a boss in the middle of this crazy world, it’s essential that you understand this truth.
Sometimes when we get down on ourselves or have a bit of bad luck, it’s good to remember that it could be worse. Whatever situation you’re in, there is someone who’s worse off. I don’t know if this is the best way to describe this, but I’m trying to get you to think about perspective.
Some people say a little fear is good because it keeps you out of harms way. Our innate, natural need to stay unharmed and healthy, keeps us from jumping off a bridge or driving our car at maximum speed. Fear of pain keeps us out of trouble for sure, but there are times in our life, when we allow fear to have too much freedom. See what fear does if left unchecked and what you can do about it.
People are afraid right now. It’s a fact. They justify their fears by saying “this or that could happen” and “the future is unknown”. By that logic we would always be afraid and unfortunately, that’s true for a lot of people. On the inside, we know we’re not supposed to feel this way. We innately know that on a daily basis, our life should be set up to live without constant fear. That’s why we go to work, earn a living, put a roof over our head, clothes on our back, support our children, etc… We’re naturally driven to seek out a sense of peace and security. One could argue that when we are fearful we are in a sense broken, or in a broken situation. So, how can we fix it?
