14 Day Prayer Challenge

img_0303Last year, I completed a 14 day prayer challenge that has turned into an (almost) daily thing. There are three things I want to share with everyone. It’s a very effective way to improve your life, 10 minutes a day.

It was easier than I thought. Finding the time and energy to do this was something I thought would be hard. I found myself pausing to do this, no matter what, because I set my mind to it. Historically, I am not a morning person. Ultimately, all I needed to do was get started. I found out that I need to get out of bed, as I fell asleep a couple of times doing this laying in bed. I also figured out that waking up early, begins by going to sleep early.

I will continue praying in the morning. It’s worth it. I found myself praying for others and thanking God for the things I already have. It allows me to express my gratitude. I like the space it puts me in, as I tackle obstacles to leadership in my daily walk. Prayer opens me up to listening for God’s voice over the noise of the world.

The benefits were always positive. – Even if I didn’t like what God was telling me at the time, it is ultimately for my benefit and His glory. I like learning about myself through prayer and meditation. It gives me a chance to course correct. The most profound thing was the humble disposition that daily prayer gave me. For example, I was able to hear my best friend tell me that I had a poor attitude. I don’t know if I would have been open to that, had I not been praying everyday.

Try the challenge. Wake up every day and before you do anything else, go into silent prayer and meditation with God for 10 minutes. After having done this for a while, I began adding prayer at night and throughout the day.  Let yourself go and allow God to speak to you. If you do this, I guarantee you won’t regret it. It’s a sure thing. You have nothing to lose.
