I am the “boss in the middle” of a spiritual war.

IMG_0365I am in the middle of a spiritual war.  It is very painful.  I can feel my soul being tugged back and forth between good and evil.  1 Corinthians 16:13-14 gave me peace and encouragement tonight.  The verses enlightened me to the fact that, while in the midst of this struggle, there is a way to be.  The first step is to recognize that I am at war for my soul.

Once I acknowledged that, the application of my reading became clear.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 – 13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 14 Do everything in love.

Let’s break it down.  Verse 13 is pretty clear, giving us precise, militaristic directions.  This speaks to faithful and strategic planning, something every good “boss in the middle” should employ.  It’s basically a pep talk for Christians.

Verse 14 adds the very appropriate  “Do everything in love”.  This is the discerning edge we have as Christians.  By adding “love” into the equation, we are being called to extend grace and mercy to things in this world that intend to harm us.  Much in the same manner that God extends grace and mercy to those of us who have offended him. Which is everyone, by the way.

We are called to utilize Godly strength and wisdom as we move through this world, fighting to keep our soul from corruption.  It’s not an option.  So long as the battles we fight are done in love, God will prove faithful.  You will be victorious.
